Bullet journal setup for October

October is my second favourite month. The summer heat is gone, so I feel more comfortable. Mornings are foggy, which I absolutely love, butternut squash is in season, and it’s the perfect temperature for baking – I hate to turn on the oven when it’s 35 degrees outside and 25 inside. This is also the time when I get more creative after my summertime depression, and I’m happier to sit down and draw, paint or experiment with something new.

I ordered some stickers and washi tapes from Temu and Aliexpress a few weeks ago, and I was very excited to use them. I also got some metallic paints, brush pens and pencils when my daughter and I went on a day trip to Košice, Slovakia, which is about 120 km from where we live in eastern Hungary.

For the title page, I got the inspiration from Pinterest. I wanted to use my metallic brush pens, and I thought that they would look best on black paper, so I used some black craft paper. When I finished setting up my bullet journal, I started to feel sorry for that sad, empty sheet next to the title page, so I put down some leaf stickers to add to the autumn mood.

I like this vertical calendar because I’ve found that this is what works best for me. It’s easy to create and look through. On the next page, I have my to-dos and upcoming events, deadlines, etc. I live how that gold glistens on the washi. I used the same set of brush pens as on the title page, and I used the fineliner end of one of them to mark the weekends.

Let’s move on to the Finances page. This one is essential because I’m self-employed, and it makes managing my outgoing invoices and income a lot easier. Next to it, you can see the meal plan page. It isn’t divided into sections because I use it as a kind of brainstorming page for food I want to cook throughout the month. I wrote the titles and the sections of the chart with a gel pen with bronze ink in it.

I’ve been into astrology and tarot since 2020. I haven’t included such pages in my bullet journal until this year, but especially since August, interesting astrological events have been taking place, so I make sure to put them in my journal. I also leave some space for Full Moon, New Moon and monthly readings.

Last but not least, a very important page for a person whose mind is working at full speed non-stop: Brain dump. This is where I take notes of ideas or things I want to look up. This time, I’m planning to make a crow feeder; this is what I started to collect ideas for. I decorated it with Halloween washi.
